Beverly Hills, CA.: More than 1000 publicity and marketing executives, producers, studio and network executives, celebrities and press turned out for the ICG 43rd Annual Publicists Awards Wednesday (1) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel which was hosted by latenight show host Jimmy Kimmel. A highlight of the ceremonies was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Variety columnist Army Archerd.

Delta Burke presented the Maxwell Weinberg Publicists Showmanship Award for Best Movie campaign to publicists at 20th Century Fox for their efforts in behalf of Walk the Line. The individual publicists who had a hand in the campaign include: Greg Brilliant, Michael Broidy, Carol Cundiff, John De La Vina , April Florentino, Martin Gaiss, Amanda Johnson, Marie Kodani, Susan Levin , Erin Moody-Pargas, Chrissy Quesada, Kimberly Wire , Fran Zell.

She also presented the award for Best Television campaign to ABC publicist Jeff Fordis and Touchstone Television publicist Erin Felentzer for their work on Lost.

Lisa Rinna and Louis Van Amstel from ABC's DANCING WITH THE STARS presented the Les Mason Award, the highest honor the union can bestow on one of its members, to freelance publicist Tim Menke; Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg presented the Bob Yeager Award, which recognizes outstanding community service, to Don Levy, senior vice president of marketing and communications at Sony Pictures Imageworks for his involvement with the Lance Armstrong Ride for the Roses

Oscar winner Hilary Swank presented the Motion Picture Showmanship Award to Warner Bros Chairman/CEO Barry Meyer and President/COO Alan Horn. "Their recognition of marketing as a key element in the distribution of motion pictures has led to their company's record results for 2005," said (presenter). "The studio led the industry in domestic and international box office, home video, television production and international television distribution."

ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson was presented with the Television Showmanship Award by DESPERATE HOUSEWIVE's Teri Hatcher. "Under Stephen's leadership the network has achieved the largest increase in the number of adults 18-49 watching primetime from one season to the next of any major network in at least 25 years," she said

Kirk Douglas presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Variety's columnist Army Archerd. Douglas explained Archerd's unequalled run as the premier chronicler of Hollywood this way. "I think it's devotion to the job," said Douglas. "He always quotes people accurately and he never traffics in gossip or runs blind items like a lot of writers do. He has a fabulous rolodex with numbers from virtually every person who might be newsworthy. Everyone felt they had to read Army first thing every day where they would always find his cheery 'Good Morning.'"

Marcia Gay Harden presented the International Media Award to Brazilian journalist Paoula Abou-Jaoude. Other honors included the Press Award which went to USA Today's Los Angeles-based reporter Scott Bowles; and a Special Award of Merit to recently retired Hollywood Reporter Editor-in-Chief and publisher Robert Downing. "He has left his imprint on the way news about Hollywood is reported to the international community," said Henri Bollinger, who presided over the ceremonies. "He has been instrumental in building the Hollywood Reporter into a respected worldwide entertainment information brand."
