The Cinematographer
Cynthia Pusheck is originally
from the Chicago area where she earned a degree in film production at
Columbia College. Pusheck migrated to Los Angeles seeking entry into
the narrative film industry. She worked as a second and first assistant
cameraperson for many different directors of photography, eventually
specializing in underwater work with Pete Romano. Pusheck attended AFI
in 1996, and has subsequently been working as a camera operator in addition
to occasionally shooting small features, short films, documentaries
and commercials. Pusheck says she thrives on variety and hopes to continue
to work on projects that challenge and push her to the next level. This
is the second time she is a finalist in the Showcase. Her winning entry
in 1999 was titled One Hand, Left.
The Film
Ezekiel is an eccentric
and magical poem-on-film about three lost souls and the strange little
man who finds them. The film was produced on location in New York in
16mm format. It follows Ezekiel who bicycles around town collecting
the refuse of lives gone wrong and transforming it into a serene, mechanized
order.
