Christos Bistakos
The Raven
Christos
Bitsakos was born and raised in Southern California. When he
was eight years old, his father gave him a still camera after a visit
to a movie set, which ignited the boy’s passion for photography.
Bitsakos graduated from University of Southern California with a
bachelor’s degree in film production with an emphasis on cinematography.
He interned as a camera assistant and worked his way up through the
camera department ranks taking every opportunity to observe and learn.
Bitsakos’ credits include feature, short, documentary and television
projects. He is currently assistant cameraman on the TV series NCIS.
He plans to continue shooting independent projects while continuing
as an assistant cameraman with aspirations of becoming a cinematographer.
The Raven is a contemporary interpretation of Edgar
Allan Poe’s classic poem that examines the power of rage, regret and
insanity. Bitsakos says he focused on two different lighting styles—classic
Hollywood and film noir. He shot in Super 35 format in 2.4:1 aspect
ratio, which provided a broader canvas for composition and lighting.
Bitsakos timed the film digitally in a da Vinci telecine suite, which
gave him additional control over the look. The Raven has also
been accepted into the Newport Beach Film Festival and Chicago Horror
Film Festival, with several other submissions pending.
