Production is Thick in Louisiana Louisiana’s aggressive incentive program is stirring a thick gumbo of film and TV production in New Orleans.
Productions that are shooting in The Big Easy include features Glory Road and Dreamer, as well as TV projects The Canal Street Brothel and Thief. Officials estimate that Louisiana will see more than $200 million in production this year. While the incentives may stir the pot, the production gumbo is also sprinkled with a rich mix of locations.
Stephanie Dupuy, executive director of the New Orleans Film and Video Commission, talked about the variety of looks that the Crescent City offers producers. "We can do 1805 Jamaica; we can do 1930s Southern California. We have areas that are all bungalows from the '30 and '40s. We have generic, Anywhere USA-style suburbs."
