Members Honored at Three Guild members were celebrated for their exemplary work in music videos this past year at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA). Juaqin Baca-Asay was crowned the winner in the category of Best Cinematography in a Music Video when the winners were announced on Aug. 29. The nominees were (Guild members listed in bold):
Jay-Z's video claimed four of the six awards for which it was nominated. In addition to being recognized for its black-and-white, noirish cinematography, the video earned kudos in the Rap, Direction and Editing categories. No Doubt took home statuettes for Best Group Video and Best Pop Video. It earned five total nominations. Naughty Girl claimed the top prize the Best Female video category. It was also nominated for Dance, R&B and Choreography. The Aguilera video was also nominated in the Best Female Video and Viewer's Choice categories.
