600 Members Among Oscar Nominees
When the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its nominees for the 77th Annual Oscar Awards, three members of Local 600 were among the nominees in the best cinematography category. The nominees are (600 members in bold):
The Aviator set the pace in this year's awards race by earning 11 nominations, including best picture, best director and best actor. The Passion of the Christ earned three nominations including makeup and original score. Nominations also came for The Phantom of the Opera in the art direction and original song categories.
