Local 600 Member Uta Briesewitz to be Honored at Women In Film Celebration

Uta Briesewitz will be feted at the Women in Film 2007 Crystal + Lucy Awards here on June 14 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She will receive the Kodak Vision Award in recognition of her achievements as a cinematographer.

“We believe it is important to encourage diversity in all aspects of
filmmaking,” says Ann Turner, general manager and vice president of the
Americas Region for Kodak’s Entertainment Imaging Division, “and I can
testify that we practice what we preach. We have sponsored this award since
its inception because we believe that it is important to recognize talented
women cinematographers and inspire others to follow the trail they have
blazed. We view this as part of our commitment to invest in the future.”

Previous recipients of the Kodak Vision Award include, Maryse Alberti,
Carolyn Chen, Roxanne diSanto, Pauline Heaton, CSC, Ellen Kuras, ASC, Tami
Reiker, ASC, Lisa Rinzler, Nancy Schreiber, ASC, Sandi Sissel, ASC, and Amelia
Vincent, ASC.

Briesewitz has compiled some 20 narrative film credits since 1998. They
include the independent features NEXT STOP WONDERLAND, SEVEN AND A MATCH,  SESSION 9 and THE TV SET, the telefilms HOMELESS TO HARVARD and LIFE SUPPORT, the TV series LAX, THE WIRE, and the pilot for JOHN FROM CINCINNATI.

She is currently shooting her first studio feature, WALK HARD, for
Columbia Pictures. The film is directed by Jake Kasdan with John C. Reilly and
Jenna Fischer cast in leading roles.
