Local 600 Director of Photography Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC to Mentor 2007 Participants of Hungarian Masterclass

Local 600 Director of Photography Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC will help mentor some 40 emerging filmmakers in Budapest, Hungary at the University of Drama and Film in collaboration with the Hungarian Society of Cinematographers. The two-week program begins Sept. 16.

The 16 scholars in this year’s Masterclass were chosen by a jury of
professors at the university from nearly 100 worthy applicants based upon
their portfolios. Most of the participants are aspiring cinematographers but
occasionally young directors and writers also qualify. During the course, the
Masterclass scholars will be formed into teams and will take turns filming
short exercises. Their rushes will then be screened, followed by an open
discussion involving the entire class and their instructors.

There are also 26 student delegates who will assist and observe the scholars
throughout the course. Kodak is sponsoring 12 of these students who come from
film schools around the world including, the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan,
Italy, France, Russia, Poland, Spain, England and Portugal. The students will
attend all the classes and presentations with the scholars and assist in all
aspects of the Masterclass: scriptwriting, choreographing scenes, shooting,
directing, etc.

Guiding the Masterclass will be Zsigmond, a native Hungarian, who is a
graduate of the film school.
