Western Region Director Steve Flint Retires
Western Region Director Steve Flint, who joined IATSE in 1960, is retiring at the end of this year. Steve joined the IATSE in 1960, where he worked for General Film Lab as a "Can Boy." In that job, he hauled cans of film from the printer to the developer. During the next 15 years, Steve worked his way up to becoming the Business Representative of Studio Projectionists Local 165. In 1987, the IATSE hired Steve to be its chief organizer, organizing feature productions all over the United States. Steve has served as Western Region Director since Local 600's creation in 1996. He has done an excellent job on all fronts, including his path breaking work in doubling California's unemployment compensation payout, overseeing much of the work of the Los Angeles office and working chiefly with National Executive Director Bruce Doering and the business representatives to defend our contract. “Steve has done a tremendous job for Local 600 and will be terribly missed,” Doering said. David Behm, senior business representative in the Western Region, will fill the role of Interim Western Region Director. Since he joined Local 600 in 1998, David has demonstrated extraordinary skills as a negotiator. David will be a tremendous asset to Local 600 as Western Region Director, having organized many important IATSE productions such as "Home of the Brave" as well as negotiated numerous contracts with television stations along the West Coast. Local 600 is also making changes in the Central Region. Longtime Central Region Director Larry Gianneschi will become Local 600's Senior Advisor and Liaison to the Central Region Larry will also work closely with Local 600's Interim Central Region Director, John Hilsman for a smooth and effective transition. John has been a Local 600 Business Representative serving the Central Region since June of 1999. He has worked diligently to represent members from Florida to Louisiana, Texas, etc. |
