SCOTT PECK: RUMBERO
Scott
Peck, a native of Southern California, is a second time selection to
the ICG Showcase. He began his film education at San Diego State University,
and later transferred to Columbia College-Hollywood where he earned his
bachelor's in Cinema. His love of movies and storytelling led him to
a career in cinematography. He credits filmmakers Michael Mann, Ridley
and Tony Scott, and Steven Soderbergh for changing the way he watches
movies. Peck says that the unique visceral language of cinematography
has given him an outlet to express himself.
Rumbero is a childhood sketch of flawed musical genius Chano Pozo. It is the
story of a young boy who is destined to become a heavyweight in the world
of Latin jazz. While growing up on the hot mean streets of turn-of-the-century
Havana, he is forged by violence and poverty. Director Greg Romero and
Peck wanted the film to look beautiful and poetic so that it would do
justice to the amazing musician. Rumbero is currently in development
for a feature length film.
