New York Central Labor Council Wages Education Campaign for Universal Health Coverage
The NYC CLC and AFL-CIO have embarked on a long-term legislative education campaign to win health care coverage for all.
The Central Labor Council is fighting for an American plan for secure, high-quality health care for all that:
* Builds on what’s best about American health care.
* Controls costs.
* Makes sure everyone gets high-quality health care as good or better than they have now.
* Covers preventive care.
* Lets people choose their own doctors and other providers.
* Government is watchdog on costs, quality and fairness and offers the choice of a public alternative to private insurance.
* Divides responsibility among employers, government and individuals.
The Labor Council is asking affiliate members to take action in their workplaces, to organize conversations in their neighborhoods and communities, and to demand that candidates and elected officials at every level commit to reform.
