I am an old lighting technician that is directing a video shoot with a relatively inexperienced camera man. We are using an XL-1 with a couple of GL-1's as pick ups. We are going to be shooting 3 trumpet players in front of a blue screen.
I am inexperienced with video lighting techniques and our gaffer is not any more experienced than the rest of us. Do we need more than 1 stop over to pull the key? Will 3 stops be too much? What about using a pro-mist 1 filter or starburst? Will that make the key more difficult to subtract?
Is there a book or direction you can point me? I thank you in advance for any guidence.
